Job Outline
  • Ensure the efficient and effective operation of the Gerry’s dnata cargo warehouse, with free flow of import and export cargo between customer aircraft and cargo importers/exporters;
  • Develop and implement a strategy for operational management such that targeted service delivery standards and SLA’s agreed with customers are effectively maintained;
  • Identify and manage problems within the cargo handling operation and deploy resources to ensure the resolution of issues whilst ensuring that safety, security and costs are maintained at acceptable levels;
  • Conduct regular service audits on a shift basis to ensure compliance with service standards / safe working practices, providing regular feedback and recommendations to the VP-Gerry’s dnata;
  • As necessary, ensure all customer complaints and related investigations are professionally managed ensuring adequate service recovery / damage limitation measures are taken to restore dnata good will;
  • Develop and maintain relationships with Airport Authority and border agencies (customs etc) to facilitate the smooth handling of all customer cargo shipments;
  • Responsible for the costs and revenues of cargo handling;
  • Maintain/establish contacts with existing and potential clients ensuring the development and growth of the cargo handling department;
  • Identify training needs and develop an annual training plan for submission to the VP-Gerry’s dnata. Subsequently manage training delivery ensuring compliance and currency of all employees;
  • Lead the cargo department in gaining security and safety accreditations.

Qualifications & Experience


  • University graduate in a business discipline with 8 years experience in ground handling / cargo / airline / logistics industry, of which a minimum of 4 years in a managerial level. 
  • Possess a drive and determination to deliver unparalleled standards of service within a difficult operating environment.
  • Fluency in both written and spoken English are essential.
  • Must have a thorough knowledge of all aspects of cargo handling and warehouse management.
  • Must possess excellent people management skills, with highly effective communication and negotiation skills.
  • Previous experience/awareness of Middle East markets in the airline/cargo industry are preferable.
